The geographical position of Cervia and its nearby places seems to be perfect to let visitors enjoy this part of Romagna: the sea with its fishing tradition dating back for centuries on the one side, and the hill hinterland rich in beautiful villages and other beauties on the other side. Last but not least here come those riches so typical and unique belonging to the city of Cervia. Cervia's "sweet" salt is anyhow king and reigns here. It is famous all over the world and in 2004 it became a Slow Food product. It is added to all local dishes, thus widening the offer of meat and fish meals. Some offers are unique, like salt-chocolate or salt-"piadina". These local products' uniqueness is further highlighted by other products such as "Prugnolino", a spirit made by blackthorn berries - a shrub typical of saltpan areas - or samphire-flavoured salt (samphire being a herb typical of saltpan basins). Sand-soil wines must not be forgotten, too. All of these products can be bought in the countless open-air local markets offering season products all year long.
Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata: hundreds of restaurants offer unlimited choices among dishes ranging from traditional ones including, just for example, home-made pasta (cappelletti, tagliatelle, strozzapreti, fish and grilled meat) and more refined food and elaborated dishes addressed to the most demanding gourmets.
