A museum of 'actors made of wood and cloth' in the heart of the saltpans.

The historical department of the Museum includes some very valuable cultural and historical items: 19th-century North Italian puppets, ancient promptbooks and stage tools, painted back-cloth, 18th and 19th century puppets, Sicilian folk puppets and 19th century wooden heads.
One of the most precious item is a whole 'small theatre' of Javanese shadows, dating back to the 19th century, which includes a whole display of carved and hand-painted leather figures.
Next to the traditional theatre there is a lot of material about the modern Figure Theatre, with items coming from all over the world.
The Museum also includes a Picture Archive (photographs, transparencies, over 1,500 videotapes) and a library which includes hundreds of books, leaflets and magazines from many different countries.
There is also a precious collection of historic printings, cards and stamps related with theatre, besides many gadgets, posters, boards, brochures, and so on about international figure theatre companies.
