Exhibition of Cervia painter Caputo

Exhibition of Cervia painter Caputo

57 works on show at the Magazzini del Sale in Cervia, in memory of Augusto Ponti

Mostra Caputo, mietitoriA little more than a year after the artist's death, an exhibition of works by the Cervia-born painter Caputo is being held to respect his wishes. His great-granddaughter Giovanna, together with her brother Mauro and her friends Daniela and Francesca, has also edited a catalogue of the artist's work, which can be viewed at the exhibition. The catalogue, as well as other interesting contributions, also contains a review of 1975 by Professor Umberto Foschi, a distinguished historian of Cervia and Romagna, a friend of Caputo's and an admirer of his art.
The exhibition will feature 57 works: still lifes, landscapes and, above all, faces and figures, painted many years ago and unknown to most people. It is hoped that this exhibition will give visitors the emotions aroused by the figures and faces almost carved in wood or imprinted on cardboard or masonite, and also the emotions aroused by the symphony of shapes and colours in the landscapes and still lifes.

The presentation of the exhibition is scheduled for Wednesday, 5th January 2022, at 4.00 p.m., in the Sala Convegni of the Magazzino del Sale (first wing), followed by the inauguration in the Sala Rubicone. At the presentation and inauguration, barring impediments, the authors of the texts in the catalogue will be present: Dr Cesare Zavatta, Councillor for School, Culture and Citizen Participation of the Municipality of Cervia, Eugenio Fusignani, Deputy Mayor of Ravenna, representatives of the associations involved and Professor Elisa Venturi, who has edited a critical reading of some of Caputo's works.
Entrance is permitted in accordance with current regulations.

The exhibition is under the patronage of the Municipality of Cervia, the Municipality of Ravenna, Department of Decentralisation and the collaboration of the Cultural Associations of the area: "Menocchio", "Umberto Foschi", "Francesca Fontana" and "Casa delle Aie" Cervia.
