Cervia - Traces of an ancient saltpan, Camillone Saltpan

A walking tour to discover the tools and methods used by ancient salt miners to collect salt. During the walk, the guide will explain how the Romans produced and consumed salt and will provide us with information on the 2015 excavations that brought to light a Roman saltpan dating back to the 3rd century BC. This excursion is dedicated to the history and discovery of the secrets of Cervia's sweet salt, also known as White Gold.


Departure

Starting point at the Cervia Saltpan Visitor Centre in Via Bova 61, Cervia.
Reservation is compulsory, please arrive approximately 15 minutes before the start of the visit

Length of walk approximately 1 km round trip.

Any curiosities?

The excursion is made from the Cervia Visitor Centre to the Camillone Saltpan, suitable for everyone, the terrain is flat and the length of the route is about 1 km round trip.
Depth of the salt pans: minimum 5 cm, maximum 30 cm
