Walk along the tamarisk path

Walk along the tamarisk path

Walk to the watchtower in Cervia salt pan

Cervia-walk in the salt pan along the tamarisk road

We walk along the 'via delle tamerici', a section of the new cycle path through the Cervia saltpan, to the lookout tower.

Along the walk, together with the guide, you can make several sightings and identify the various animal species living in this area, the typical flora and the 'salt-loving' plants.

From the lookout tower, you can admire the panorama of the Salina, where water and sky merge, with the possibility of taking some nice pictures.

The walk is suitable for everyone, the terrain is flat and the length of the route is about 1.5 km between round trip.
It is also possible to participate with a pushchair.

Starting point at Centro Visite Salina di Cervia in via Bova 61, Cervia.

We recommend that you have:

- sunglasses and hat
- water bottle
- sportswear
- mosquito repellent

Any curiosities?

The tamarisk, or tamerix in its classification, is a small tree with a shrubby habit, native to the arid areas surrounding the Mediterranean: for this reason it is also often referred to as the 'desert shrub'.

They are suitable for areas with a mild, marine but also desert climate, due to their ability to retain sand. Of these, the Gallica type is the most suitable for the construction of windbreaks or for dune consolidation operations along sandy shorelines.

Tamarisks generally have a very good tolerance to salt when they receive spray from sea waves. But they tolerate a widespread presence of salt in the soil, a common element in marine areas, equally well.
