Endless Summer
Endless Summer
from Saturday 17th May to Sunday 22nd June 2025
Cervia, Magazzino del Sale
First stage of a three-year cycle of exhibitions organised by MAGMA to explore curating as a collective action.
The aim is to create a varied exhibition that goes beyond personal visions, to reflect on contemporary artistic practices and at the same time on different curatorial approaches.
Eight curators from different generations, each following their personal inclinations and specific research interests, have invited 43 visual artists - among whom we find the best-known names on the contemporary Italian scene - to reflect on summer as an eternal possibility. The exhibition project is rooted in this suspended temporality, evoking it as a mental condition even more than a climatic one, as an experience in which sentimental intensity mixes with fleetingness, enthusiasm merges with nostalgia.
Endless Summer is an invitation to think about the exhibition as one experiences summer: with the awareness that everything is intensely present, yet constantly fading away.
For the year 2025, MAGMA proposes a group exhibition involving a selection of multimedia artworks by emerging and international contemporary visual artists chosen by the following curators:
- Vittoria Caprotti
- Viola Cenacchi
- Viola Emaldi
- Rossella Farinotti
- Davide Giannella
- Gioele Melandri
- Ornella Paglialonga
- Giovanni Rendina
- Valentina Rossi
The artists present are: Yuri Ancarani, Thomas Berra, Thomas Braida, Ermanno Brosio, Martina Bruni, Michele Bubacco, Jacopo Casadei, David Casini, Francesco Cavaliere, Goldschmied & Chiari, Adelaide Cioni, Giovanni Copelli, Lucia Cristiani, Rudy Cremonini, Giovanni De Francesco, Roberto DePinto, Jeremy Deller, Ettore Favini, Roberto Fassone, Oliviero Fiorenzi, Christian Holstad, Mino Luchena, Lorenzo Mason, Jonathan Monk, Davide Monaldi, Luca Nostri, Ornaghi & Prestinari, Bruno Peinado, Alessandro Pessoli, Marta Pierobon, Leonardo Pivi, Aronne Pleuteri, Luigi Presicce, Andrea Renzini, Salvo, Pierluigi Scandiuzzi, Mario Schifano, Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Thea Vallé, Vedovamazzei, Flaminia Veronesi, Carlo Zauli.
The exhibition, named after Bruce Brown's 1966 documentary "Endless Summer", aims to evoke the idea of an endless summer, as a mythical and timeless time.
The works are rooted in this suspended temporality, evoking summer as a state of mind, as an intense but fleeting experience. The selection of works interweaves and dialogues, following the principle of intuitive resonance, leaving freedom to the curators.
