Milano Marittima, for a Christmas by the sea
Milano Marittima, for a Christmas by the sea
from Sunday 30th November 2025 to Tuesday 6th January 2026
In Milano Marittima, Christmas is a work of art. The Rotonda Primo Maggio is transformed into a magical place with unique artistic scenery, while the streets of the town centre become the stage for ‘Tacabanda’, featuring marching bands, choirs and instrumental ensembles.
The Mare d'Arte Festival returns, the cultural event under the artistic direction of Gianluca Orazi and organised in collaboration with Sky Arte. For the winter preview of the 2026 edition, it offers a unique experience: in the central Rotonda Primo Maggio, We Rise by Lifting Others by Marinella Senatore will be on display, a work that has already been exhibited in internationally renowned contexts.
With Tacabanda, promoted by the Ater Foundation, bands, choirs and instrumental ensembles from the Emilia Romagna region, coordinated by Assonanza ETS and ANBIMA Emilia Romagna, offer music and entertainment.
The calendar includes shows and events, and a small market in classic wooden huts, to complete the programme for some Christmas shopping.
We Rise by Lifting Others - Marinella Senatore
Art installation
From 30th November, Marinella Senatore's We Rise by Lifting Others will be on display in the central Rotonda Primo Maggio. The work has already been exhibited in prominent international contexts, such as the NOOR Festival in Riyadh and Unlimited at Art Basel, a global showcase for contemporary art, and will remain on display in the Garden City throughout the Christmas holidays.
The work offers a new reflection on the idea of community, closeness and relationships. It is a monumental work that welcomes and gathers around it the light of a shared narrative.
The quotations incorporated into the work – “We Rise By Lifting Others” (attributed to American lawyer and orator Robert G. Ingersoll) and “I Contain Multitudes” (from Walt Whitman's Song of Myself) – aim to send a message of overcoming social divisions, reaffirming the artist's commitment to creating connections between communities through art.

In gourmet cottages, you can't miss out on a platter of cold cuts and porchetta, accompanied by local wines, mulled wine, bombardino and delicious hot chocolate.
For those with a sweet tooth, there are handmade crêpes, prepared with local ingredients. For a special snack, if chocolate is your passion, you can be tempted by a warm tenerina with a soft touch of handmade whipped cream, which makes every bite a celebration.
