Salsedine: the arcane of salt pans
Saltiness: the arcane of saltpans
from 2nd to 31st August 2025
Milano Marittima, historical studio of Maestro Morigi, Viale Leopardi
As part of the 74th Werther Morigi (1915-1990) Summer Exhibition, ‘Salsedine: l'Arcano delle Saline’ (Salt: The Mystery of the Salt Pans), linked to last July's anthology at the Magazzino de Sale, more than twenty works from that exhibition are on display and presented in several venues in the town centre and at the Maestro's Historical Studio in Viale Leopardi in Milano Marittima.
The works, three oil paintings and eighteen frescoes on canvas, span half a century of work, complemented by photos, documents and writings by the “greats” who followed the master in the places, seasons and secrets of the Cervia Salt Pans.
The exhibition, organised by Bottega d'Arte, is on display in Milano Marittima at the Morigi Historical Studio in Viale Leopardi and can be viewed until 31 August, by appointment.
It brings together more than twenty works through a collection of previously unseen paintings, dating back to the period 1939-1989, when the artist, who adopted Cervia as his home, “lived” in the salt pans to capture their introspective and esoteric aspects.
The virgin aspiration of art is to produce memory, and Morigi is someone who carries with him strange signs and impossible colours, adores them, abandons them, stops and starts again in the primordial effort to stimulate meanings, developing the consciousness of those who admire him.
