The Art Sea Festival

The Art Sea Festival

Art, photography, music and talks for the Festival on the value of hospitality

The Art Sea Festival

from 4th to 13th July 2025

Milano Marittima

Milano Marittima turns into an open-air cultural hub with Mare d'Arte Festival (Art Sea Festival), which this year explores the theme Sogni Condivisi (Shared Dreams).

Nature, art, and innovation intertwine in a dialogue that reaches as far as the sea, understood as a symbol of openness and connection. In what becomes a diffuse museum, creativity is told through the language of architecture, design, photography, painting and sculpture.

The value of hospitality is the starting point of an artistic and human journey that finds expression in a rich calendar of events.

The programme includes events in the central Rotonda Primo Maggio, the heart of Milano Marittima, as well as an evocative exhibition by Oliviero Toscani Studio.

The siren song is not enough - Non basta il canto delle Sirene

ARTWORK BY VALERIO BERRUTI

The beating heart of the festival is Valerio Berruti's imposing work Non basta il canto delle sirene (Siren Song is not Enough). It will remain permanently installed on the Cervia quay, Milano Marittima side, to invite reflection on the foundations that animate the Mare d'Arte Festival project.
The mermaid as a symbol of the sea and the little girl as a metaphor of hope and the future convey an idea of hospitality that not only receives, but welcomes and transforms.

The six-metre-high sculpture stands out above the sea and its bronze profile restores the design in its encounter with the sky, whose ever-changing colours become part of the work.
At nightfall, the work Non basta il canto delle sirene (Not Enough Siren Song) glows with light as if emerging from the sea.

OPEN-AIR EXHIBITION

Also of note is the Razza Umana by Oliviero Toscani Studio exhibition, the choral project conceived by the great master of photography, realised thanks to the shots taken by Toscani, his students and collaborators.

The photo-totems, positioned on the Promenade of the Garden City for about two months, become part of a visual dialogue with the sea that welcomes those who arrive. The exhibition aims to challenge barriers and celebrate the beauty of diversity, to invite the public to reflect on the value of sharing human experiences, to give life to the dream of a new universal order based on the recognition of the other.

The concept also includes a set where visitors can have their photo taken to become part of the project itself
