One Sky One World - Artevento Cervia
World Flying Day for Peace
After the success of the Spring Festival, a new programme of events, exhibitions, meetings and workshops to promote peace, multiculturalism and environmental sustainability.
Artevento celebrates One Sky One World Peace Flight Day, conceived and promoted by the American kite flyer Jane Parker Ambrose following a historic meeting between Reagan and Gorbachev at the Denver Summit on nuclear disarmament in 1985. So many years after that event, the message entrusted to the historic kite remains more relevant than ever.
This event invites the public to become the protagonist of a spectacular collective action, paying homage to the spirit of the world day of kite flying for peace and celebrating it in the town of Romagna, consecrated "capital of art that flies" thanks to the longevity and fame of its historic festival.
From 3rd to 5th October, the programme includes free kite flying on Cervia beach, accompanied by a new exhibition at the Kite Museum dedicated to the latest acquisitions from Japan, scheduled from 3rd to 12th October at the Magazzino del Sale Torre.
The event also includes a rich programme dedicated to peace, solidarity, human rights, sustainability and protection of the planet, and aims to pay tribute to the idea of Europe, adhering to Emergency's R1PUD1A project and preparing the March for Peace in collaboration with the PerugiAssisi Foundation.
The focus of the October event is the concept of art as a tool for transformation, highlighted by the main attraction of this edition: the exclusive presentation, for the first time in Italy, of two kite collections created to pay homage to “the idea of Europe”, namely The Hague AirGallery – presented in the Netherlands in 1987 based on an idea by contemporary kite pioneer Gerard Van Del Loo and art curator Els Lubbers, with 21 kites by Dutch artists – and the European Air Gallery, inspired by it, promoted since 1994 in England by Sunderland City Council and composed of works by 22 artists selected from different countries: large-scale paintings based on the traditional Japanese “edo” model, designed to be admired from a great distance in the sky.
The event will also be enriched by distinguished guests, parades, music and even a solar-powered mobile cinema, Cinema du desert, to share experiences of life, travel and migration.
