The event will see the preparation, by Cervia bakers, of the longest Torta Zitella cake in history.
The cutting will be attended by the Mayor of Cervia, Mattia Missiroli, and Don Pierre Laurent, Parish Priest of the Duomo. The evening supports the Cerviaman nel Cuore project.
The Spinster's Cake (Torta della Zitella)
This is a cake made of almond flour with pine nuts, sponge cake soaked in Alchermes and blackberry jam. The cake was created by students and professors of the Tonino Guerra Hotelier Institute in Cervia as a traditional cake for the Marriage of the Sea.
The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Cervia Doganieri, Martini, Stradaioli, and Zamagni bakeries, the Tonino Guerra Hotelier Institute, Ascom, CNA, Confesercenti, Confartigianato, and Cooperativa Bagnini Cervia, and is organised by the Cervia Centro Consortium.
