In Milano Marittima, on Viale Matteotti, near number 61, the ‘Festa della Torta della Zitella’ is back.
The event is organised by Roberto Bagnolini and the bakers of Cervia who preserve the recipe (La Forneria di Emilio, Forno Doganieri, Forno Giuliani, Forno Martini, Panificio Stradaioli and Forno Zamagni). The Mayor of Cervia, Mirko Boschetti, and the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Federica Bosi, will kick off the event by cutting the ‘Torta della Zitella’.
The aim of the evening is to break the record set on 16th June 2026, when the cake measured over 33 metres.
The Spinster's Cake (Torta della Zitella): a unique and original dessert
This is a cake made of almond flour with pine nuts, sponge cake soaked in Alchermes and blackberry jam.
The cake was created by students and professors of the Tonino Guerra Hotelier Institute in Cervia as a traditional cake for the Marriage of the Sea.
